Changing Tomorrow Through Education Today
Guided by Mississippi State's land-grant tradition, we are on a mission to prepare students to make tomorrow brighter through innovation and service both in the classroom and non-teaching settings.
We’re helping Bulldogs develop dynamic skills through five departments at our main campus in Starkville and the division of education at our Meridian campus. Our academic programs span teacher education, kinesiology, music, educational psychology, industrial technology, information technology services and more.
Impactful Research and Outreach
Driven to make a difference, we are home to leading-edge research units, as well as transformative service units, such as the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities, the National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision, and the Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center. Our faculty are collaborating to discover solutions to today’s tough challenges while providing hands-on learning opportunities for students.
We are also among an elite group of institutions holding the acclaimed All-Steinway School status, a reflection of our commitment to excellence in the arts.
New Facilities
In 2022, we opened a $21 million, state-of-the-art Music Building with sound-proof practice rooms, a high-tech recording studio, over $3.5 million in Steinway pianos and more. In fall 2025, we will open the Jim and Thomas Duff Center, a $65 million, 100,000-square-foot facility that will house kinesiology and our Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic. Additionally, the Partnership Middle School at MSU, which opened in 2020, provides innovative training for future teachers as the only school in the nation that serves all district students in partnership with a college or university.
Leadership
The College of Education leadership team is deeply committed to supporting students, faculty and staff as we achieve academic excellence and improve lives through research and service.
A veteran MSU administrator, professor and elementary classroom teacher, Dr. Teresa Jayroe was named dean of the College of Education in 2021 after serving as associate dean for a decade.
