MSU Phi Beta Lambda students garner high honors

COLUMBUS, Miss.—Some of the Mississippi State University’s best business and leadership students were on Mississippi University for Women’s campus to compete at the Future Business Leaders of America- Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference held March 1-3.

During the PBL conference, approximately 150 students competed in more than 50 business, legal and leadership-oriented testing and live performance events with other students representing 15 community colleges and universities from throughout Mississippi.

College of Education students who placed in the competition include:
Leah Ferguson and Morgan Jones - 1st place - Strategic Analysis and Decision Making
Jonnese Going - 2nd place - Public Speaking
Sarah Wooten - 2nd place - Computer Application

These students now qualify to compete against state winners from across the United States at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., June 24-27. Marshall Ramsey, author and cartoonist, served as the keynote speaker for the opening ceremony Wed., March 1. Participants also attended a fish fry sponsored by the Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau with live blues music from Stormy Monday at the Plymouth Bluff Center Thursday, March 2. The conference concluded with the awards ceremony Friday, March 3.
