Five MSU College of Education students receive prestigious Spirit of State Award

Twenty-nine Mississippi State University students, including five from the College of Education, are being honored with Spirit of State Awards for their exceptional personal contributions to student life at MSU.

Organized by MSU's Division of Student Affairs, the 19th annual Spirit of State Awards honor students making a positive impact on peers and the broader campus community through organization involvement, service to the university and personal actions promoting school spirit and tradition.

"This year's Spirit of State winners exemplify Mississippi State University's commitment to meaningful and impactful service," said MSU President Mark E. Keenum. "They lead by example and strive to make the university and their communities better every day, and I am proud of their dedication to others, strong work ethic and willingness to make a difference."

The College of Education recipients include:

­—Joshua Britt, a senior studying information technology services from Nesbit, Mississippi

—Carrington Davis, a senior studying elementary education from Columbus, Mississippi

—Laura Grace King, a senior studying educational psychology from Monroeville, Alabama

—Alina Nigmatullina, a graduate student studying higher education leadership from Kazan, Russia

—Olivia Springfield, a senior studying elementary education from Fulton, Mississippi

The Spirit of State Awards are open to all students, no matter their classification, major or primary campus. Nominees must have a minimum 2.25 grade point average and be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
